This is the event that all football fans are looking forward to for the Italian national team. It will be the first European to play across Europe. In January our football gets off to a bit of a slow start, the only event to go live this month is the Italian Cup, which sees the dispute between the Round of 16 (January 15 and 22) and the Quarter-Finals ( January 29). At the end of the month, the championship instead offers us the Rome Derby (26/1). Instead, it’s all coming to life in winter sports, especially alpine and nordic skiing, which are seeing increased World Cup testing.
In tennis, after a rare month of vacation, we start from “bottom to bottom”. The first ATP and WTA tournaments take place in Oceania, in preparation for the highly anticipated first Slam of the year: the Australian Open, a real highlight of sports January (January 20-February 2). Also in Australia, the cycling season is taking its first steps with the Tour Down Under (January 21-26). Also note the traditional X Games, a kind of Winter Olympics for extreme sports, held in Aspen, Colorado. The dates for this year are January 23-26.
The first date marked in red for the second month of the year already arrives on day 2. It’s the Super Bowl, which will see edition number 54 hosted at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida. Also at the start of the month (February 1-2) is the 20th edition of the Six Nations of Rugby. Which will see Italy in the difficult mission of avoiding another wooden spoon. Tennis starts very quickly with the last stages of the Australian Open. The first part of the season, therefore, continues with a series of indoor (in Europe) and outdoor (North and South America) tournaments.
These include ATP 500 Rotterdam (10-16/2) and ATP 500 Rio (17-23). In football, the 12th is the time for the Italian Cup semi-finals, but everyone is waiting for the second half of the month, when the race for the Champions League title, with the first leg dispute of the first knockout round. Three Italian teams are involved: Atalanta (19/2 v Valencia), Napoli (February 25 in Barcelona), and Juventus (26/2 in Lyon). The Europa League also starts again with the 16th (20 and 27/2).
Roma and Inter are engaged. Speaking of the Nerazzurri, the Derby Della Madonnina: Inter Milan will be played on February 9. In basketball, it’s a very busy month. And, In Pesaro (13-16 / 2), the Eighth final of the Italian Cup. In the United States, it’s time for the All-Star Game: the All-Star Weekend will take place this year in Chicago (14-16 / 2), and prelude to the beginning of the real fight for the playoffs.
The month of football begins with a game that always ignites the collective imagination, but inevitably also controversies: Juventus-Inter(March 1), the Derby of Italy which for some time does not smell like a scudetto this time. The opponent will be South Korea and the venue chosen is Cagliari. in terms of ATP, the first Masters 1000 of the season are expected on American cement, Indian Wells (12-22/3), and Miami (March 26-April 5). In the 2020 calendar of sporting events, March is also the month when the Formula 1 and MotoGP caravans. The 2020 calendar of sporting events is full of cycling events in April. With classics like Roubaix (12), Amstel Gold Race (19), Freccia Vallone (22), and Liège (26). There are also preparation tests for the big tours, from the Tour of Sicily (1-4 / 4) to that of Flanders (5), the Basque Country (6-11 / 4), and the Alps (20 -24/4) you don’t miss anything.
